LED panels revealing untold truths

Inui Led, LED Panels

This is where we explain all about LED panels revealing untold truths

It's time we feel that you, the customer, we're given a full explanation about LED Panels revealing untold truths within the industry.

We have listened to countless LED suppliers within the UK and heard them boast about their panels are the "only ones in the UK that can do this and that"

Most suppliers won't even know what brand of LED chip is being used with in the panels they are supplying.

This news letter is going to be kept as simple as possible, so that it makes understanding how an LED panel is constructed easy. This will also help you understand why you will see so many different price variations.

Based on this, INUI LED has decided to explain every component around LED Panels revealing untold truths.

The LED panels revealing untold truths broken down into sections

INUI will break the LED panel down into sections to help you understand what actually goes into making a good quality LED panel and its pit falls that will cause you problems further down the line.

Aluminium frame

The Aluminium frame, you would think that this was as simple as getting a frame and fixing it together.

Ask your supplier,  "What Grade of Aluminium is the frame made of"

We know the grade and quality of our LED panels.

A supplier must know the grade of Aluminium used in the frames they supply. Poor quality Aluminium will see this bend and twist very easily.

The crucial reason behind a high grade quality Aluminium is for heat dispensation. The Aluminium frame is the heat sink for the LED chips.

Good quality Aluminium will allow the LED chips to cool correctly and help prolong the life to meet the LM80/LM79 report.

Diffusion plate

The diffusion plate will determine the glare factor within the lighting design. You will hear many times over the term "UGR" short for Uniform Glare Ratio.

The cheaper the LED panel you will usually find the higher the UGR.

Some suppliers will boast about how bright their LED panels are, but meeting the LG7 regulations is far more important.

An uncomfortable workforce is an unhappy workforce. Keep them happy and your production and ROI will be greater.

If your supplier is boasting that their panels are UGR <19 then get them to prove this with documentation.

A low UGR comes at a premium. Getting this from a cheap panel is just not possible, unless sacrifices are made in other areas.

This is why we are telling you all about LED Panels revealing untold truths.

Light guide plate

The light guide plate is a key component of the LED panel.

This is what distribute the light emitted from the LED chips across and down with a full and even distribution uniformity.

The LGP (Light Guide Plate) is an area that allow manufacturers/suppliers to cut corners because it is an area that unless you dismantle the LED panel you will never actually get to inspect.

Your supplier will tell you that your warranty will be invalid if you open or dismantle the LED panel so even if you do attempt to examine it, your warranty will then be useless.

In the last few months our manufacture has been privy to some very detailed and disturbing information regarding the LGP.

Be aware of some very cheap LED panels that have come into the UK over the last twelve months.

A large number of these have been manufactured using a very poor quality grade of LGP.

This poor quality LGP will discolour to reveal A "Yellowy tinge" across the LED Panel in an uneven form.

One large LED supplier in the UK has already fallen foul of this already and is having to replace them as and when they start to reveal themselves.

Just another reason why we feel tell you about LED Panels revealing untold truths.

Reflective paper

ou would think this small but simple component of the LED panel construction was easy to get right.

Yes it is, but so many will even cut this corner to save money in order to boost their profit margins.

This is just one more reason why suppliers will not like us disclosing the LED Panels revealing untold truths.

Again this is within the LED panel and not something you as the customer will ever get to see.

The reflective paper should be of high quality and will be fixed to the back side of the LGP.

Some manufacturers will simply lay in a sheet of cheap paper in order to form some kind of barrier.

The reflective paper must be fixed securely to the back of the LGP.

Poor fixing of this reflective paper or just simply poor quality paper will result in uneven distribution of the light from the LGP onto the diffusion plate.

This will ultimately result in "wave light patterns" across the LED panel.

When disclosing this information, we do so knowing that when telling you all about LED Panels revealing untold truths it will be valuable information that other suppliers will not want you to know.

Sponge sheet

This thin sponge sheet helps to protect the LED panel from the back as well as help form a seal within the panel from dust partials.

The Sponge Sheet should form an area "just" short of the LGP size and be of high quality.

The main function of the sponge sheet is to stop the LGP from moving and touching the LED Chips.

The Sponge must be White, in colour, and made from an EVA (Environmentally Friendly) foam.

Some of the cheap panels were now seeing within the UK have a "Black" sponge sheet that has been made from recycled materials that may contain poisonous even carcinogenic products.

LED Panels containing this type of Black sponge material will not pass the CE & RoHS certification process.

LED Panels revealing untold truths is all about telling you the things the suppliers don't want to you know or understand.

The saying is true, knowledge or power and power is being able to demand quality for your hard earned money that you spend with them.

Back plate

The final section this this LED panel construction is the metal back plate.

To Avoid light leakage, the back plate forms a seal when fixed in place.

Light leakage will decrease the total lumen output and decrease the efficiency of the LED panel.

This in turn is lost light output that you want thrown out to the front.

LED chip set

There are so many variants when it comes to the LED Chip and its quality.

Most suppliers will only be able to tell you that it has an "LED" inside the Panel.

Cheap LED panels that are being sold by wholesalers in the UK today have a Chip lumen efficiency of between 75 and 80 Lumens Per Watt.

INUI LED Panels have 120 Lumens Per Watt.

What this means in simple terms is that a Cheap LED panel running at 54-watt will have a total output of around 4050 Lumens.

An INUI 36-watt LED Panel will have a total output of around 4320 Lumens.

This is a total saving of 18-watt for just one LED panel, when multiplied over some installations this will give your customers the full energy savings and ROI they are looking for.

You also need to be asking for the LM80 report for the LED chip.

Ask your supplier, "what is the LED Chip quantity within the panel for the wattage being supplied."

Some manufacturers have been over clocking the chips. Over clocking will gain a higher lumen output by running the chip at a higher current than is recommended.

This is all well and good in the very early stages for the life of your LED panel but this will have detrimental consequences further down the line with rapid light decay of the LED chips.

Yet more reason for us to tell you about the LED Panels revealing untold truths.

Ies and photometric data sheets

IES files and the Photometric data sheets.

Testing cost money and producing an IES file for your product takes time. Your LED supplier should be in a position to provide you with them on request.

We know of some suppliers who refuse to give out there IES files for the LED panels, why ask yourself!!! what have they got to hide?

If a customer wants to design a project based around our LED panel. Then supplying them with the tested and proven IES files is something we welcome.

The photometric data sheet is proven data complimenting the IES file.

If your LED supplier cannot provide these files or data sheets, you need to ask them why not.

We hold all of the IES/Photometric files for all of our LED products. This means we are in a position to carry out an in-house lighting design for our customers.

LED panel certification

This is an area that just about all LED suppliers will be heavily protective of for the simple reason is that this will disclose their manufacturers point of contact.

Some LED suppliers will go to great lengths to find out who your supplier of LED products are.

Remember we have spent years building up a relationship with our manufacturers.  We're not going to hand over this valuable information to someone who does not fully understand the products.

INUI LED has spent over 8 years now helping develop our LED products. We have a joint partnership with our Chinese  engineers and our UK electrical engineers.

This partnership is why we are in such a strong position to develop the very specialist LED products we do. This is why we can sell them at the competitive prices we do.

To protect the source of manufacture, some details will be removed from the LED Panel certification.

This is normal for an LED suppliers to do this. If they are not in possession of such product certification you need to ask yourself why. Is this product certified to enter the UK?
